Our Story

Owners Irma (Mimi) and Warren Merrow began their endeavor into the flower business in 1988. Mimi started with a craft class at the local community college where she realized she wanted to work with flowers. She began designing flowers for weddings out of her basement as a hobby while she worked for the state of Michigan. Then the business "Mimi's Flowers 'n Things" was born. They served their small community in Lawrence, Michigan for five years before deciding to sell their home and move to Oregon along with their three children.

In the summer of 1993, their adventure began as they traveled and camped across the country for two and a half months. After landing in Portland for a couple of days, they began exploring Oregon looking for the perfect place to raise their family and continue to follow their dreams. This is when they discovered the beauty of the Oregon Coast.

Mimi's Flowers & Gifts opened their doors 23 years ago at 1803 S. Roosevelt Dr. in Seaside, Oregon, in September 1993. Starting with only a dream of becoming successful in a new town, Mimi's Flowers has proved themselves to the local community with a great product and wonderful service.

Flowers are the focus at Mimi's, but as the kids have moved on, a new family was born. Mr. Patrick, a 20 pound Maine Coon cat, lives at the flower shop. Mr. Patrick also has some loyal subjects that join him during the day: Sweetpea, a dapple dachshund; Gizmo, a chaweenie; and Peanut, a toy dapple dachshund. They are all rescue pets. They are sometimes a little louder than need be, but they are are very friendly and easy to love.
